The 82 Most Fuel Efficient Cars in 2008. These are based on the new EPA rating system which drops the numbers for a lot of cars. I was surprised to see that hybrid SUVs actually did better than smaller non-hybrid cars. My Ford Focus is ranked No. 18 with a measly 24 MPG.

Those real world EPA numbers dropped all the cars, alright. But most people will find them to be more realistic. Hypermilers will tell you they can do better than that, but most people don’t want to focus in that much on how they drive.
